Here you will find a little more information on the products that we use and why they are used.
Mount board
A mount board is a thin, flat piece of paper-based material included within a picture frame, which serves as an additional decoration to your artwork/photograph and separates the art from the glass.
Single Mounts
A single mount creates a nice decoration and will help to focus the eye on the artwork within your frame.
Double mounts
A double mount provides an inner border around the artwork. We normally advise to choose a darker mount to the top mount and one that will complement a colour from your artwork within your picture frame.
Heat seal
A lamination film that is applied over your print with the beneficial side effect of increasing the fade resistance of your photograph. Heat seals are incredibly durable, easy to keep and clean and a great replacement for a non reflective glass free frame.
Backing board
The backing board sits behind your artwork/photograph inside the frame. This helps reduce any rippling of your artwork or photograph and helps hold it flush against the glazing at the front of the frame.
Glass
The glass gives protection to your artwork/photograph and allows for easy cleaning. The glass has a built in UV filtration of approximately 40% and a light reflection of 8%.
Acrylic
Acrylic glazing gives protection to your artwork/photograph and allows for easy cleaning. Acrylic glazing is also shatter-resistant and ideal for larger frames or when the frame is being posted.
Bumpers
Using frame bumpers on the corners of the back of your frame prevents movement of the picture, minimises marking of wall finish and allows air to circulate around the back of your picture frame.
Tape
Using tape to seal the back of your frame provides a nice neat finish to your picture frame, it also keeps the frame tight to the backing board which aids rigidity. Most importantly it stops dust, insects and bugs getting into the frame and damaging the contents.
Barrier board
A barrier board is a sheet of acid neutral board that will sit behind your artwork inside the frame. It improves the lifespan and reduces fading of your artwork/photograph over very long periods of time.
Sticky fast mount
A perfect board for mounting your photographs or artwork on to avoid rippling, this board will keep your photograph or artwork flat within your photo or picture frame.
